Recent exit polls from the presidential election indicate a nation deeply divided along gender lines: Women predominantly cast their votes for Kamala Harris, while men leaned towards Donald Trump. This stark division appears to extend even to those who are not yet eligible to vote. Naomi Beinart, a 16-year-old high school junior, observed this phenomenon in her school during the days following the election. In this compelling episode, Beinart reflects on how her female classmates are filled with apprehension about the future, stating, “this election didn’t seem to have any significant impact on the boys around me, whether their families supported Mr. Trump or not.”
