The Joy of Pie: A Thanksgiving Tradition
Is there anything more delightful than sharing a slice of pie with loved ones? Whether itās custardy, creamy, jammy, nutty, or tart, pie embodies celebration, nostalgia, and sheer deliciousness. It has the magical ability to bring joy to any gathering. Thatās why I believe that ending Thanksgiving with a slice of pie, surrounded by the people who make life meaningful, is the ultimate way to wrap up the day.
However, my journey with pie hasnāt always been one of enthusiasm. While Iāve always enjoyed eating pie, I never found the same excitement in baking it. Despite trying numerous recipes and techniques, I never felt as confident in my pie-making skills as I did with other desserts. So when my editors challenged me to create six new pie recipes for the holiday season, I took it as an opportunity to rediscover my passion for this beloved dessert.
Our 2024 Thanksgiving Pies
In crafting these recipes, I aimed for flavors that strike a balance between chic and cozy, enticing enough to encourage you to venture beyond the ordinary, yet accessible for those who may only bake once a year. I wanted to honor traditional Thanksgiving pies while also giving them a modern twist, ensuring thereās something for everyone, irrespective of their baking experience or flavor preferences.
Throughout this process, I baked an astonishing five dozen pies, and yes, I truly fell in love with the art of pie-making. I discovered the soothing, tactile joy of preparing the crust, filling, and assembling each pie. More importantly, I experienced the profound pleasure of sharing my creations with others and watching their faces light up with bliss at the first bite.
