The Evolution of Jahleel Weaver’s Pocket Watch: A Symbol of Success

The Timeless Journey of Jahleel Weaver’s Pocket Watch

Jahleel Weaver’s pocket watch has transcended its primary function of keeping time. Although it no longer ticks away the seconds in the conventional manner—requiring a reset with each wear—it holds a much deeper significance for him. This exquisite piece represents his remarkable journey in the fashion industry, spanning over a decade.

From humble beginnings as a freelance styling assistant to styling iconic personalities like Kylie Minogue in Australia, and later ascending to the role of deputy creative director at Fenty LVMH, Mr. Weaver has certainly made his mark. He now serves as the lead stylist and creative director for Rihanna, in addition to being the lead stylist for Dua Lipa.

The watch itself has undergone a transformation that mirrors Mr. Weaver’s evolving career. Initially a vintage Rolex Datejust, it has now been reimagined into a custom Chrome Hearts wallet chain, featuring the Rolex Datejust face as its centerpiece. Mr. Weaver shared insights into how this continuous metamorphosis has kept the piece not only aesthetically fresh but also timeless. The following interview has been edited and condensed for clarity.

Tell me about the one piece of jewelry that speaks to who you are.

Without a doubt, it would be the custom Chrome Hearts Rolex wallet chain that I had crafted around five or six years ago. It all began with my first significant purchase, a vintage Rolex Datejust, which I acquired when I landed my first solo client as a freelance styling assistant. After working under various stylists for approximately two and a half to three years, I was presented with the opportunity to style Kylie Minogue for a series of events and television appearances in early 2014. This was a pivotal moment for me.

Traveling to Australia to work with Kylie, I felt an overwhelming sense of pride and gratitude. It was incredible to think that I had only been in the industry for a short time, and here I was with my own client. To commemorate this milestone, I decided to treat myself to something special—a token of my hard work and dedication. I purchased the vintage Rolex at a quaint jewelry store in Los Angeles called Craig Evans Small, and I wore that watch for years.

How did it go from watch to wallet chain?

Over time, I discovered that Chrome Hearts offered customization for Rolex watches. I knew I wanted to give my beloved timepiece a fresh twist, so I decided to transform the band of my watch into a stunning Chrome Hearts bracelet.
