Awakening of Democratic Realities
A growing number of Democrats are beginning to understand a crucial truth: the woke agenda is not resonating with the electorate. In the previous election cycle, Donald Trump managed to secure a majority of votes from white women, alongside impressive support from Black and Latino voters, as well as young men.
Democratic insiders had anticipated that people would cast their ballots for Kamala Harris, even if she wasn’t their preferred choice, simply to remove Trump from office. However, the outcome was quite the opposite; more individuals chose to vote for Trump, despite their reservations about him, primarily because their disillusionment with the Democratic Party ran deeper.
I often reflect on my father’s enthusiasm as he stayed up throughout the night celebrating Harry Truman’s election. Similarly, my brother was equally exhilarated during Trump’s first election victory. This stark contrast highlights a significant concern: Democrats have yet to recapture the excitement and passion from their base. A critical question lingers: why have they alienated so many working-class voters over the years, and what led to the party’s growing disdain for its once-loyal supporters?
Many Democratic candidates have come to embody elitism, with figures like Michael Dukakis, Al Gore, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton, and even a second-term Barack Obama representing this disconnect. The party has adopted a worldview characterized by hyper-political correctness, condescension, and a tendency to cancel dissenting voices. Initiatives such as diversity statements for job applicants and the use of terms like “Latinx” and “BIPOC” (Black, Indigenous, People of Color) have further alienated a significant portion of the population.
This estrangement has left many feeling unheard and marginalized. Moreover, the chaos and rising antisemitism observed on numerous college campuses have exacerbated the situation. As former Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel poignantly remarked, “When the woke police come at you, you don’t even get your Miranda rights read to you.”
