SNL Satirizes Kamala Harris Interview with Bret Baier Featuring Alec Baldwin

“Saturday Night Live” Satirizes Kamala Harris Interview with Bret Baier

A recent interview of Vice President Kamala Harris conducted by Bret Baier, the chief political anchor for Fox News, became a hot topic for satire on this week’s episode of “Saturday Night Live.” The opening sketch, which humorously reenacted this contentious interview, also marked the return of Alec Baldwin. Baldwin, a familiar face on “S.N.L.,” is well-known for his portrayal of former President Donald J. Trump during the 2016 presidential campaign and throughout Trump’s presidency.

This episode was significant for Baldwin as it was his first appearance on the show since a New Mexico judge dismissed an involuntary manslaughter case against him in July, ruling that the state had withheld crucial evidence in the tragic shooting of a cinematographer on a film set.

In the sketch, Baldwin took on the role of Baier, seated across from Maya Rudolph, who reprised her role as Harris. Baldwin introduced himself with a cheeky remark, stating, “And to clear the air, yes, I do look like someone made a businessman in Minecraft.” To this, Rudolph quipped, “The pleasure is neither of ours,” setting a comedic tone for the segment.

Baldwin wasted no time in launching into a confrontational line of questioning, asking Rudolph, “Give me the exact number of murderers you let loose in this country.” He interrupted her responses repeatedly, escalating the absurdity by exclaiming, “A million? Two million? Ten million? Just give me a number!”

In a moment of clever wit, Rudolph countered by boasting about her achievements in prosecuting international drug cartels, stating, “If I was in ‘Breaking Bad,’ it would have ended in three episodes.” This playful jab highlighted her character’s prowess while adding an entertaining twist to the skit.
