Shooting Incident in Queens, New York City
Late Wednesday night, a chaotic scene unfolded in New York City as three to four gunmen unleashed approximately 30 rounds into a crowd, resulting in injuries to at least 10 individuals, according to police reports. This alarming incident occurred outside an upscale private event space located in the Jamaica neighborhood of Queens, as detailed by Philip Rivera, the Police Department’s chief of patrol, during a press briefing.
At the time of the shooting, around 90 patrons were inside the venue, with an additional 15 individuals waiting in line outside. Chief Rivera noted that the assailants targeted the crowd as they approached the event space, striking multiple victims before fleeing the scene in a vehicle registered with out-of-state plates.
The victims included six women and four men, all aged between 16 and 20, and fortunately, they are expected to recover from their injuries. Chief Rivera emphasized that the police are not treating this incident as a terrorist attack, focusing instead on the ongoing investigation to apprehend the perpetrators.
The location where the shooting occurred aligns with the address of the Amazura Concert Hall. A New York Times photographer who arrived shortly after the incident reported observing shell casings littering the street near the venue, accompanied by a significant police presence as concertgoers exited the building in confusion.
A woman who answered the phone at the concert hall early Thursday morning claimed that no shots were fired inside the establishment, but she chose not to disclose her full name.
