Sara and Erin Foster Discuss Their New Netflix Series and Advocacy Efforts
On a bright Tuesday morning, sisters Sara and Erin Foster, the creative minds behind the Netflix original series “Nobody Wants This,” joined a video call from their respective homes in Los Angeles. Sara, 43, sported an oversized sweatshirt, embodying a casual yet stylish aesthetic, while 42-year-old Erin appeared in a cozy bathrobe. The sisters, known for their relatable and laid-back style, have had an incredibly busy month filled with excitement and new ventures.
The much-anticipated “Nobody Wants This” premiered on September 26 and quickly rose through the ranks to become one of Netflix’s most-watched shows within just a week. The series, penned by Erin and produced by both sisters, draws inspiration from Erin’s personal journey of love, specifically her romance with music executive Simon Tikhman. The narrative follows Joanne, a blonde, agnostic relationship podcaster portrayed by Kristen Bell, and Noah, a bearded rabbi played by Adam Brody, as they navigate the complexities and challenges of embarking on a serious relationship.
In addition to their creative endeavors, the Fosters have also made headlines recently by stepping into the ongoing conversation about reproductive rights and in vitro fertilization (IVF). They launched a limited edition T-shirt through their fashion brand, Favorite Daughter, featuring bold black text that reads, “IVF, Baby.” This initiative was made possible through a partnership with CCRM Fertility, and all proceeds from the T-shirt sales will be donated to Resolve: the National Infertility Association.
“The T-shirts just launched about four days ago, so we haven’t had the chance to see anyone wearing them yet, but we’re hopeful that we will soon,” Erin shared. She personally experienced the emotional and physical challenges of undergoing 20 rounds of IVF before she welcomed her daughter in May. Sara, who has two daughters with her ex-partner and former tennis star Tommy Haas, noted that the sales have exceeded their expectations, showcasing the powerful demand for such advocacy.
The sisters took a moment to reflect on this whirlwind period in their lives, where creativity, personal struggles, and social advocacy intersect.
