Russian Strikes Across Ukraine Result in Casualties
On Monday, a series of Russian strikes across Ukraine tragically resulted in the deaths of at least four individuals and left dozens more injured, as reported by local authorities. The Ukrainian Air Force announced that they successfully intercepted 49 out of 116 Shahed-type drones that were launched by Russia during the night. In addition to the drone assaults, Moscow also unleashed ballistic and guided aerial missiles aimed at various locations throughout Ukraine. The capital city, Kyiv, was targeted by attack drones overnight, but officials confirmed that all were neutralized, with one man sustaining facial burns in the incident.
In the village of Novoplatonivka, two elderly residents in their 70s tragically lost their lives when they were discovered beneath the debris following a Russian attack, as stated by Oleh Syniehubov, the governor of Kharkiv. Furthermore, another individual was reported dead in Sumy after overnight strikes targeted a critical infrastructure facility, resulting in widespread blackouts across several settlements.

Governor Ivan Fedorov reported that an assault on the city of Zaporizhzhia resulted in injuries to fourteen people, with one fatality. In addition, Russian strikes across various cities, including Kharkiv, Kryvyi Rih, Kherson, and Donetsk, have caused injuries to at least 37 individuals, according to local media sources.
In a significant development, Ukrainian forces successfully destroyed a Russian air defense system located just 60 kilometers from the front line, as confirmed by the General Staff of the Ukrainian Armed Forces. Amidst the ongoing intense attacks on the eastern front, Ukraine’s military reported that they managed to repel 59 attacks in the Kurakhove sector within a single day.
Russia continues to make aggressive attempts to storm the Selydove sector in the Donetsk Oblast, as noted by Ukraine’s National Guard. On Sunday, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy took to social media platform X to emphasize the urgent need for enhanced air defense systems to protect against Russian aggression. He stated, “This week alone, Russian terrorists have utilized over 20 missiles of various types, approximately 800 guided aerial bombs, and more than 500 strike drones of differing types against Ukraine.”
