RBG PAC: A Bold Move in Republican Strategy
A newly established Republican super PAC has taken an unexpected approach by invoking the name of the late Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg. This audacious strategy aims to mitigate the contentious issue of abortion, which has often been viewed as a liability for Donald J. Trump as he seeks re-election.
Named RBG PAC, the group emerged just days ago and has swiftly committed to a substantial $20 million advertising campaign in support of Mr. Trump, as disclosed in federal records. The PAC has launched two abortion-themed advertisements highlighting Trump’s stance against a federal abortion ban.
The PAC’s formation was officially documented with paperwork signed by May Mailman, a former aide in the Trump White House, who currently serves as the director of the Independent Women’s Law Center. As of Friday, she had not responded to requests for further comment.
In a recent social media post, Ms. Mailman showcased the ads, emphasizing a narrative featuring a “suburban mom” who, until now, had never voted for Trump. She is depicted backing him due to his stated opposition to a nationwide abortion ban. The advertisement features a woman clad in a pink sweater, comfortably seated in her living room. She expresses her approval of life under Trump’s presidency, stating, “freedom to choose is also important to me,” and aligning her beliefs with Trump’s position on abortion exceptions, such as in cases of rape, incest, or when the mother’s life is at risk.

Mr. Trump has publicly taken credit for the pivotal decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, which has effectively returned the power to regulate abortion back to individual states, many of which have since enacted stringent bans on the procedure.
