Ongoing Strikes and Military Operations in Beit Lahiya and Northern Gaza

Recent Strikes in Beit Lahiya

The ministry reported that another 40 individuals suffered injuries due to the recent aerial strikes targeting the town of Beit Lahiya. This area was one of the initial locations struck during Israel’s ground invasion nearly a year ago. In response to these developments, the Israeli military stated that it is “continuing to operate across Gaza” through both aerial bombardments and ground operations.

Ongoing Military Operations

For the past two weeks, Israel has been conducting a significant military operation in the urban Jabaliya refugee camp, also situated in northern Gaza. The Israeli military claims that this operation was launched to target Hamas militants who have reportedly regrouped in the area.

Impact on Northern Gaza

The northern region of Gaza has already experienced the most extensive destruction during the ongoing conflict and has been surrounded by Israeli forces since late last year. This military presence intensified following a deadly attack by Hamas on Israel. In the initial stages of the war, Israel ordered the entire population of the northern third of Gaza, including the city of Gaza City, to evacuate southward. These instructions were reiterated earlier this month. While many residents fled during the early weeks of the conflict, it is estimated that around 400,000 individuals continue to reside in northern Gaza.

Restrictions on Displaced Population

Palestinians who fled the northern areas at the onset of the war have faced restrictions and have not been permitted to return to their homes. This ongoing situation highlights the humanitarian crisis unfolding in the region.
