Ja’Marr Chase Shatters Records in Thrilling Game Against Ravens
In a stunning display of athleticism and skill, Ja’Marr Chase recorded 11 receptions for an impressive 264 yards and three touchdowns during the Cincinnati Bengals’ nail-biting 35-34 defeat against the Baltimore Ravens on Thursday night. This remarkable performance marked only the second time in Bengals history that a player has achieved such a feat ā the first being Chase himself back in 2022.
Chase made history as the first player in NFL history to log multiple games with over 250 receiving yards and two or more touchdowns in a career. His inaugural record-setting performance took place on January 2, 2022, when he set a franchise record by amassing 266 yards on 11 catches, also with three touchdowns.
Although Chase narrowly missed breaking his own franchise record for receiving yards in a game, it certainly wasn’t due to a lack of effort or opportunities. Unfortunately for the Bengals, time simply ran out on a game that could have easily swung in their favor. The final touchdown of Chase’s night was a 5-yard reception in the closing minute, bringing the Bengals within a single point of the Ravens. However, Cincinnati’s attempt at a two-point conversion fell short, preventing Chase from extending his already impressive stat line into overtime.
All three of Chase’s touchdowns came during the second half, showcasing his ability to perform under pressure. The first was a stunning 67-yard catch-and-run that saw him weave through the entire Ravens secondary. His second touchdown was an electrifying 70-yard connection with quarterback Joe Burrow, which occurred midway through the fourth quarter.
Chase now holds the Bengals’ franchise record for the most 60-plus yard touchdown receptions, with a total of 12, surpassing the previous record of 10 held by Bengals legend Isaac Curtis.
As of now, Chase has recorded two of the 23 performances in NFL history that exceed 260 receiving yards. Remarkably, only seven of those performances have included three or more touchdowns, and Chase is proud to claim two of those standout games.
Despite his phenomenal achievements, Chase is still playing under his rookie contract after failing to reach a long-term agreement with the Bengals prior to the start of the season. During the game, his agent, Caitlin Aoki, took to social media platform X to express her pride, stating, āHe keeps making my job easier.ā
