Israeli Air Force Strikes Hezbollah Targets in Syria Amid Ongoing Tensions

Israeli Air Force Conducts Strikes in Syria Targeting Hezbollah

The Israeli military announced on Tuesday that its Air Force executed targeted strikes in Syria for the second consecutive day. These operations were aimed at disrupting the flow of weapons and intelligence between Hezbollah, the armed Lebanese group, and its primary backer, Iran. This recent announcement marks the third time in a week that Israel has publicly confirmed its involvement in military actions within Syrian territory.

The latest strike specifically targeted weapons storage facilities utilized by Hezbollah’s munitions unit in Al Qusayr, a city located near the Lebanese border. According to a statement released by the Israeli military, these facilities are crucial for Hezbollah’s operations.

Israel’s military leadership has expressed concerns that Hezbollah’s munitions unit has expanded its activities into Syrian territory. They have accused the group of intentionally establishing weapons infrastructure in civilian areas, thereby placing non-combatants at risk.

In a report issued by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, a British-based organization that monitors violence in Syria, it was noted that Israeli jets targeted warehouses in and around Al Qusayr. Eyewitnesses reported hearing approximately seven distinct explosions emanating from the area, although there were no immediate reports of casualties.

Just last week, Israel confirmed that it had struck Hezbollah’s weapons storage facilities and command centers in Al Qusayr, stating that these actions were necessary to curtail the transfer of weapons from Iran through Syria to Hezbollah in Lebanon.

On Monday, the Israeli Air Force also targeted a branch of Hezbollah’s intelligence headquarters situated in Syria. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights further reported that the Israeli strike impacted three farms that had previously been utilized as camps by members of Hezbollah and the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.
