Turmoil Behind the Scenes at Trump Media & Technology Group
The parent company of former President Donald J. Trump’s social media platform, Trump Media & Technology Group (TMTG), has experienced a remarkable surge in its stock market performance over the past month. However, this financial optimism contrasts sharply with increasing unrest within the organization.
In recent weeks, TMTG has seen the dismissal or departure of at least three senior executives, a move influenced by employee grievances regarding the management style of Devin Nunes, the former Republican congressman currently serving as chief executive. This information comes from two sources familiar with the situation.
The upheaval follows the submission of a letter by several employees—who chose to remain anonymous—describing their concerns as a whistle-blower complaint addressed to TMTG’s board. This correspondence alleged that Nunes was overly dependent on foreign contract workers and exhibited poor management practices. A copy of this letter has been reviewed by The New York Times.
It remains unclear whether the employees who were let go were directly involved in drafting the whistle-blower letter. However, the document outlined serious concerns, noting that Nunes’s directive to hire foreign contractors did not align with the “America First” principles that the company professes to uphold.
Moreover, TMTG has sought to outsource certain operational tasks to Cosmic Development, a technology firm based in Canada that also operates in Macedonia and Serbia, according to the two sources. This outsourcing strategy has raised eyebrows among employees who feel it contradicts the company’s stated values.
Former President Trump, as the largest shareholder of TMTG and the primary attraction for users on the Truth Social platform, has been vocal on the campaign trail about his intentions to impose significant tariffs on foreign goods and on U.S. businesses that choose to outsource jobs overseas. This stance further complicates the internal dynamics as employees question the alignment between corporate actions and the leadership’s public commitments.
