Embracing a Holiday Routine at Quellenhof Luxury Resort

Embracing a Holiday Routine: The Joy of Predictability

Embracing a Holiday Routine: The Joy of Predictability

While many travelers seek adventure and spontaneity to break free from the daily grind, I find immense comfort in the predictability of a holiday routine. Call it boring, but I truly relax when I know how my day will unfold and can anticipate the little pleasures that lie ahead.

During our stay at the Quellenhof Luxury Resort near Lazise on the picturesque Lake Garda in northern Italy, my husband and I made a point to rise early to enjoy the steaming outdoor pool all to ourselves. After a leisurely dip, we strolled to breakfast—no need to rush, as the buffet remained open until 11 AM. We indulged in multiple courses, savoring every bite, of course.

Our afternoons were blissfully spent napping, alternating between the sauna, a plush relaxation room, and a variety of daily spa treatments. We capped off our days with a delightful evening ‘aperitivo’ at the bar, followed by dinner at the reasonable hour of 7 PM—reflecting the predominantly German clientele rather than the more traditional Mediterranean dining hours.

Some of the standout dishes we enjoyed included:

  • Chocolate mousse topped with seasonal fruits
  • Pasta bombon filled with braised meat, peas, champignon, and green asparagus
  • Millefeuille layered with vanilla cream and wild berries

Exploring Lazise: A Charming Destination

Exploring Lazise: A Charming Destination

I arrived at Lake Garda seeking a chance to unwind and recharge after a bustling few months. The lake’s 160-kilometer shoreline offers an array of destinations, but Lazise, located on the southeastern shore, was my perfect choice. It’s just a half-hour drive from Verona Airport, which was exactly what I needed—no lengthy or complicated travel plans.

Lazise is a delightful town characterized by its cobbled streets, lined with inviting restaurants, gelato shops, and charming Italian-themed souvenirs. The Navigarda ferry conveniently stops in Lazise’s harbor, providing an easy way to explore other lakeside towns. Furthermore, Lazise is ideally situated between the popular destinations of Bardolino and Desenzano, making it a great base for day trips via public bus or car.

Family-Friendly Spa Hotel: Something for Everyone

Family-Friendly Spa Hotel: Something for Everyone

If you’re eager to venture further, Quellenhof offers guided tours to nearby cities such as Verona, boat trips, and e-bike excursions around the lake. However, don’t feel guilty if you prefer to remain in the warm, cozy cocoon that the hotel so expertly creates.

The sauna area is among the finest I’ve experienced, featuring a complete circuit that guides you from sauna to plunge pool and onto sumptuous relaxation beds. While some guests appeared to be regulars, I appreciated the detailed instructions provided to help us fully enjoy the sauna experience.

During our visit, many of the other guests were families with children or teenagers, likely due to it being school holiday season. The hotel offers rooms, spa treatments, and sauna facilities specifically designed for families. For couples seeking a romantic getaway, rest assured—the adults-only sauna and relaxation area is a serene child-free zone.

We only crossed paths with other guests during mealtimes; aside from that, the hotel exuded tranquility. For families, the hotel features a waterslide adjacent to the outdoor swimming lake, and there are three theme parks within a 20-minute drive, including Gardaland (Italy’s largest), CanevaWorld, and Legoland.

Dining at Quellenhof Lazise: A Gastronomic Delight

As with all exceptional 5-star hotels, it’s the little details that elevate the experience at Quellenhof. Each night, you are assigned the same dinner table, fostering a friendly rapport with the wait staff as they anticipate your preferences. Traveling with a list of dietary restrictions, I was relieved to find that the alternatives provided on my personalized menu were both accommodating and delicious.

The staff’s pride in maintaining the hotel’s immaculate standards was evident, from the perfectly creased tablecloths to the meticulous clearing of crumbs between courses. Most guests opted for half-board accommodations, with breakfast and dinner included. Initially concerned about the prospect of six courses every evening, I soon realized that the portions were thoughtfully sized, allowing for ample time to rest and digest between courses.

The culinary offerings were impeccable, featuring multiple choices at each course and a delightful mix of comforting classics and innovative creations.

A Family-Run Atmosphere: The Heart of Quellenhof

It’s no wonder that guests return to Quellenhof time and time again—not only do they offer discounts for repeat visitors, but the hotel is also owned and operated by the same family, the Dorfers. This familial atmosphere is palpable, with staff greeting returning guests as if they were long-lost relatives.

What I truly appreciated about this hotel was the blend of first-class service and facilities without an ounce of pretentiousness. You will undoubtedly experience a rejuvenating retreat here, yet the spa elements aren’t pushed upon you as they might be in other wellness-focused hotels. Refreshingly, I didn’t hear the word ‘wellness’ uttered even once during our stay.

Even a week after our visit, I find myself reminiscing about our morning swims and wishing fluffy dressing gowns were suitable for everyday wear.
