Elon Musk’s Support for Trump Post-Election
Following Donald J. Trump’s victory in the presidential election, Elon Musk has fully committed to utilizing X, the platform he owns, as a megaphone for the incoming administration. Between Tuesday and Friday, Mr. Musk made over 400 posts related to politics, celebrating Trump’s success and discussing the key issues he believes the president-elect should prioritize once in office.
Among his posts, Musk shared a photograph featuring himself and his son, X Æ A-Xii Musk, alongside Trump and his family at Mar-a-Lago. Another notable image he posted included a picture of himself with Trump, captioned with the Latin phrase “Novus Ordo Seclorum”, which translates to “a new order for the ages” and is famously found on the U.S. dollar bill.
Linda Yaccarino, the chief executive of X, also engaged with the conversation. In response to a post discussing the platform’s influence in political discourse, she remarked, “Reporting for duty.” These interactions illustrate Musk’s intent to position X as the primary platform supporting Trump’s presidency.
Since the election was declared on Wednesday, Musk has actively promoted an optimistic outlook for the future under Trump’s leadership through his posts. He has encouraged users on X to take the lead in news reporting, emphasizing the importance of sharing Trump’s remarkable return to power while advocating for X as a central hub for conservative dialogue.
This surge in political engagement is a continuation of Musk’s long-standing support for Trump’s campaign. Having endorsed Trump back in July, Musk participated in an extensive audio conversation with him on X in August. Around the same time, Trump began to frequently utilize his reinstated account on the platform.
On Tuesday, Musk hosted an audio town hall on X, urging his impressive following of over 203 million to cast their votes for Trump. The president-elect acknowledged Musk’s pivotal role in securing his victory, stating during his triumphant speech, “A star is born — Elon!”
