Düsseldorf Pizzeria Linked to Cocaine Trafficking Operation

Police Uncover Drug Trafficking Operation at Düsseldorf Pizzeria

German law enforcement authorities have recently dismantled a sophisticated drug trafficking operation based in Düsseldorf, which involved a local pizzeria that was clandestinely delivering cocaine alongside its pizza orders. Customers who ordered the special item labeled as “pizza number 40” were unwittingly receiving a side of cocaine with their meals, as reported by the police.

Criminal director Micheal Graf von Moltke disclosed that the illicit activity first came to light when food inspectors raised concerns back in March. Following this initial tip-off, the drug enforcement unit commenced a detailed surveillance operation, quickly uncovering the reason behind the unexpected popularity of pizza number 40, Moltke explained during a press briefing.

During a raid on the apartment of the pizzeria manager, a 36-year-old male suspect, officers witnessed him discarding a bag of drugs out of the window. This bag fortuitously landed directly into the hands of the vigilant police officers waiting below. The contents of the bag were staggering: 1.6 kilograms of cocaine, 400 grams of cannabis, and a whopping €268,000 in cash were seized.

Remarkably, just two days after his arrest, the pizzeria manager reopened the establishment and resumed selling the infamous “pizza number 40,” allowing investigators to further trace the operation’s extensive supply chain. After weeks of meticulous investigation, approximately 150 officers executed a large-scale raid, effectively dismantling the drug ring and apprehending three suspects, including a 22-year-old ringleader.

In addition, law enforcement officials conducted searches on homes and businesses linked to 12 other suspects, leading to the discovery of two cannabis plantations in nearby Mönchengladbach and Solingen, which housed a total of 360 cannabis plants.

Authorities also confiscated various weapons, a significant amount of cash, and luxury watches during the extensive raids. The pizzeria manager was ultimately apprehended while attempting to flee abroad and is currently in custody. In compliance with German privacy regulations, the identities of the suspects involved have not been released. At this time, police have not disclosed the price at which the pizzeria was offering the clandestine cocaine orders.
