In the video, Sinwar is seen slumped in an armchair, his face obscured by a traditional kaffiyeh and his body covered in dust, a testament to the chaos surrounding him. His right arm bears a severe injury, bleeding profusely, and he appears to be in a state of resignation. The ominous atmosphere is palpable as he remains largely motionless, fully aware of the hovering drone that captures his final moments.
As the footage unfolds, Sinwar raises a long object—possibly a stick—only to let it fall back into his lap. After a prolonged gaze at the drone, which lasts for at least 20 seconds, he defiantly hurls the object toward it, a gesture of resistance even in the face of impending doom. The video abruptly concludes shortly thereafter, leaving viewers with a chilling sense of finality.
The Israeli military, which disseminated the video, claims it depicts the moments leading up to Sinwar’s demise in Rafah on Wednesday. Numerous details regarding the video remain uncertain, particularly since it was heavily edited before its release. Notably absent from the footage is the sequence of events that led to his injury, as well as the precise moment of his death. As the clip commences, the drone makes its entrance into a residential building located in the Tel al-Sultan neighborhood of Rafah, navigating through a second-story window.
Subsequent images of the building reveal significant damage, suggesting that an explosion occurred shortly after the drone footage was recorded. In a separate video released by the Israeli military, two tanks can be seen positioned nearby, with one tank firing upon the building. According to military reports, Sinwar was killed moments after the drone captured his image, first by a sniper’s bullet to the head, followed by a tank shell that obliterated much of the structure.
