Aaron Levine’s Journey in Fashion
Aaron Levine had a strong instinct that his time at Abercrombie & Fitch was coming to an end. Just prior to his pivotal performance review, he confided in his wife, Nicole, about his uneasy feeling. “My ‘spidey senses’ were tingling,” he recounted. “I sensed that perhaps I was a little too challenging, that I wasn’t saying yes often enough to the demands around me.” Despite witnessing Abercrombie’s stock soar by over 800 percent since the beginning of 2021, Levine felt the metaphorical train was departing without him.
True to his instincts, he was let go in mid-2021. However, his time in unemployment was relatively short-lived. In the subsequent months and years — all while adhering to a stringent non-compete agreement — Levine took on a behind-the-scenes role with various notable fashion brands, including Madewell, Vince, and Aimé Leon Dore. He lent his design expertise to creating fleece jackets for the stylish outdoor brand Huckberry and developed a unique boot for Viberg. Throughout this period, he acted as the mastermind behind the scenes, guiding teams of designers on crucial fashion elements such as the ideal plaid patterns, the perfect suit silhouette, and the precise number of pleats required for a chic pair of trousers.
During this phase of his career, Mr. Levine opted for a more subdued profile, choosing to work quietly without drawing much attention to himself. However, that is changing now, as he seeks recognition for his contributions to the fashion world.
After 22 years of experience in the industry, Mr. Levine is ready to step into the spotlight with the launch of his own brand, debuting this week. For the first time, the work he has meticulously designed will carry his name.
The pieces in Mr. Levine’s new collection are striking yet accessible, crafted with a modern sensibility that appeals to a broad audience. He chose the nautilus as his logo, appreciating its perfectly geometric shape that symbolizes growth and elegance.
